Illinois at Cincinnati preview: Recipe for an upset

November 25, 2009

If you’re reading this, you’re probably one of three things: 1.) bored as shit and having nothing else to do or 2.) stuffed on turkey and read to puke or 3.) doing some light reading before blacking out into a food coma.

Since it’s highly doubtful that you’ll make it to the bottom of this post, I’ll take all the melodrama out of it: Illinois will lose to Cincinnati.

But let’s tantalize our imagination for a moment and cook up a little upset recipe for your brain to chew on…

Connecting the dots: SIU-E to NIU to Pres. to Wofford

November 24, 2009

Basketball and football are totally different (Apologies to those of you dumb enough to think otherwise. How have you survived this long?) so I’m going to attempt to cover them differently. Instead of doing the preview/recap posts like I’ve been doing for the Zookers all season, my posts about the basketball team will be more organic.

Undeserved Postseason Honors

November 23, 2009

See anything strange? Answer after the jump.

With Big Ten play wrapped up, it’s time for journalists to start dispensing postseason awards and for obvious homer Illinois beat writer Bob Asmussen to begin turning shit into shine.

Asmussen’s ballot for All-Big Ten players includes two Illini: G Jon Asamoah (first team) and RB Mikel LeShoure (second team).

Connecting the dots: SIU-E to NIU to Presbyterian

You say basketball column, I say homoerotic porn

November 18, 2009

From Loren Tate’s column in The News-Gazette today…

Even with McCamey’s newly tightened body, he can’t be expected to go 40 minutes, and Jordan has qualities that might work in short stints.

See what I mean? Of course this sounds like a gay romance novel taken out of context, but some basketball meaning is in there.

The Copper Ticket

November 18, 2009

The News-Gazette is reporting that StubHub is selling tickets to the Illini/Fresno State football game at below face value

On Wednesday, online ticket broker StubHub was offering tickets as inexpensive as five cents. At 11 a.m., there were 175 tickets available for $5 or less.

Face value tickets are available through the school for $45.

It truly is an Illinois football renaissance, right?
